Quarity has to be our number-one priority. [優先順位を示す]
(品質が私たちの最優先事項でなければなりません。)
・number-one はまとめて形容詞として後ろのpriority を修飾しているのでハイフンがいる。
・priority「優先」。prior「先に」という順序を表す単語。
とても良く使う単語。なぜなら社会人･学生に関わらず すべての人に優先順位(priority)があります。
priority の前に順番をつけることも。例：It's a first priority, second priority.

*1 The figures for the last quarter are in.
・figures「数字」ビジネスではさまざまな数字が使われる。一つの数字だけが使われるわけではないので、複数形が使われている。
・last quarter「直近の四半期」
・in「あがってきました」 英語は配置のことば。be動詞の後ろにあるので説明語句となり形容詞と同じ意味で使われている。
*2 They're extremely disappointing.
・extremely「極端に、非常に」
・disappointing 形容詞。"がっかりさせるような"対象に対して用いる。disappoint動詞から派生したもの。
*3 we're deep in the red.
・「大赤字です」
・こういうときはdeepという単語を使うんだな、と覚えておこう。
*4 How come?
・why と聞くよりも、どういうプロセスを経て来る(come)という感触がある How come を使っている。

・「製品が市場に出るのが遅い」

・「良い製品を作るには時間がかかる」

・「工場から市場までのスピードこそが全て」
*8 Profit comes first!
・come 最初に来る、つまり順番が最初ということ。これも優先を表す動詞。
*9 We've got to make some radical changes.
・We've got to = we have to と全く同じ「～しなければならない」
・radical「根本的な、抜本的な」ここから"徹底的な"、"求心的な"という意味になることもある。
