「分かりますか？」と尋ねるには？

⇒　Can you tell?

※ tell は「話す・語る」という意味もあるけど、 can と一緒に使うことで「分かる・見分ける」という意味にもなる。

※何かに相手が気づいてくれたときに、さっと言う表現。

※自分自身は絶対気づかれないと思うようなことに対して相手が何かあったの？と聞いたきたときに

　How can you tell?（どうして分かったの？）

　という表現もある。

　例：ハリー：Have you been outside in the sun?（ずっと外にいた？）

　　　ありさ：How can you tell?（どうして分かったの？

　　　ハリー：Because you're sunburnt.（めっちゃ日焼けしてるから）

＜ストーリー＞耳コピなのでかなり不正確です(???は聞き取れなかった部分)。緑部分は正確です。

Asami: Sorry that keep you waiting, Jessica.

Jessica: No problem. Wait a minute. What's the occasion? You're dressed up!

Asami: Oh. Can you tell?

Jessica: Of course.

Asami: Well, actually it's our tenth wedding anniversary today.（ええと 実は今日10回目の結婚記念日なの）

Jessica: Really? Congratulations.

Asami: Thank you. Mio is going to stay with her grandparents tonight. My husband and I will go on dinner date.

Jessica: That's lovely. So, where are you going to go for dinner?

Asami: Well because it's special occasion we're going to restaurant Yoshi-takayama.

Jessica: Wow, shef Takayama's restaurant? It's so famous. Sounds amazing.

Asami: Yeah, I can't wait. Let's go.
