・相手に何かをしてもらいたいとき・指示をしたいとき、自分の事情を説明すると相手も受け入れやすくなる。

Hi, I really want to buy this, but
I'm afraid it's more than I can pay.
Is any chance I could get a discount?

◎Today's Key Sentence◎
I'm afraid it's more than I can pay. [事情説明]
Is there any chance I could get a discount? [指示(依頼)]
(残念ながら払える額を超えているのです。割り引いていただける可能性はありますか？)
・しっかり自分の事情を説明する。こちらの事情を理解してもらえれば指示も通りやすくなる。
・I'm afraid は相手にとって不利益になることを持ち出すときに、それを柔らかくするために用いられるフレーズ。
・any は "ほんの少しでもいいから、どんな小さなものでもいいから" というニュアンス。
any chance の後ろで I could get a discount. とフルセンテンスでどんなチャンスかを説明している。
・Is any chance...? は「どうかお願い！イエスって言ってください！」と祈るような気持ちのときに使う。

・「私たちにはほどんと時間がありません。締めの言葉をお願いできますか？」。
・会社でもどこでも使えるので、全文を覚えておこう。
・out of time「時間がない」
・closing comemmt「締めのコメント」

・「問題は私たちは代替の教員が今すぐ必要なのです。私たちを助けてくれませんか？」。
・help us out は help us とは大きく違う。
help us out はトラブルの中にいるという感じ。その渦中から救い出してほしいというときは out がくる。
ただ単に「手伝って」という Help me with my homework. とは全く違う。
