「そんなことなさらなくてよかったのに」という言い方。英語にも遠慮したり恐縮したりする言い方がある。

恐縮しながらお礼を言うには？

⇒　You shouldn't have.

※ You shouldn't have ( done that ).の後半の部分を省略したもの。

※プレゼントをもらうときによく使う。

　You shouldn't have. Thank you.

　と、よくセットで使われる。

☆You shouldn't have. と言われたらどう返す？

ハリー杉山さん： Oh no no. It's with my greatest pleasure.　(喜んでやらせていただきますよ)

アダムス亜里咲さん： Oh no. I insist. (ぜひ そうさせてください)

＜ストーリー＞耳コピなのでかなり不正確です(???は聞き取れなかった部分)。緑部分は正確です。

Annika: You will right, the natural light in the living room is the best.

Makoto: I told you.

Annika: My husband, sun, our puppy and I to?? in the sunshine togather last weekend.

Makoto: I'm glad to you like it.

Annika: I came by to give you this.

Makoto: Oh, you shouldn't have.

Annika: It's the least I can do to thank you, Makoto-san.　(ほんの感謝の気持ちなんです)

Makoto: Well, that's very kind of you. May I open?

Annika: Sure, of course. I baked them this morning. I hope you enjoy them.

Makoto: I can't wait. My wife and I love sweets.
