日本語でも「天にも昇る心地」のような言い方があるがそれに近い英語の表現。

うれしくて有頂天な気分を伝えるには？

⇒　I'm over the moon.

※直訳すると「私は月を超えたところにいる」「月を超えるくらいうれしい」＝「うれしくて有頂天です」と、カジュアルな場面で使えるカジュアルな表現。

※主語を"she"や"he"に変えて使うこともできる。

　例：She's / He's over the moon.（彼女/彼 有頂天になってるね）

           Look at them dance. They're over the moon.（彼らが踊ってるのを見てよ。すごいうれしそうだよ）

※"about"をつけて何に対してうれしいのか具体的にあらわすことができる。

　例：I'm over the moon about my new 〇〇.（新しい〇〇を買ってうれしいの！） 

＜ストーリー＞耳コピなのでかなり不正確です(???は聞き取れなかった部分)。緑部分は正確です。

Makoto: Here the new calendar.

Annika: Thank you. It looks good. Well, have good day.

Makoto: It is a good day. It's a great day!

Annnika: Makoto-san, you seem happy about something?

Makoto: Oh, can you tell? Well, take a look at this.

Annika: Oh how cute! Who's baby?

Makoto: My daughter's. She moved to Nagoya when she got married.（結婚して名古屋に引っ越したんです）Three days ago, she had her baby!（3日前に娘が出産したんです）

Annika: Oh my goodness! Congratulations! Is it a boy or girl?

MAkoto: A boucing baby boy!（元気な男の子です） He's my first grandchild.

Annika: I think he looks a little bit like you.

Makoto: You think so, too? I'm over the moon.

Annika: I'm happy for you!
