断定するにはちょっと困る質問をされたときに曖昧に答える表現。

「そうかもしれないし、そうでないかもしれない」と言うには？

⇒　Maybe, maybe not.

※例：Are you going home this year?（今年は実家に帰るの？）

　　　→ Maybe, maybe not.（帰るかもしれないし帰らないかもしれない）

※天気予報など本当に分からないときによく使う

※他の曖昧な単語の確率（所説あり。人によって使い方・捉え方違う）

　probabley・・・80～90%の確からしさ

　maybe / perhaps・・・30～50%

　possibly・・・20%

Tyler: Hi Asami.

Asami: Hi, Tyler.

Bettina: Asami came to give us advice about our next trip, Tyler.

Tyler: Great.

Asami: I heard you're going on family vacation to fukui.

Tyler: Yes, we're thinking of taking a plain. Is flying the best way to get there?

Asami: Flying? Mayby, maybe not.

Bettina: What do you mean?

Asami: Fukui airport doesn't have schedule commercial flight. However, Komatsu airport in Ishikawa is close to Fukui.

Tyler: Does it take a long time by train?

Asami: Yes. But taking a train can be fun. I guess it depends on where in Fukui you want to go.（福井のどこに行きたいかによるかな）※depend on... = ～しだいで

Tyler: To the Dinosaur museum, of course.
