・自分の意見や認識が正しいのか確認を相手に求める際のフレーズ。

【Commander】Today, we have a new staff member for our investigation of Mars' weather patterns. *1
I'd like to introduce the new meteorologist, Dr. Ogawa Yuki. *2
【Yuki】Thank you, Commander. I'm looking foward to working with you.
【Akira】You have ten years' experience in your field.
Is that correct?
【Yuki】Yes, that's right.
【Commander】Excellent. We're counting on you to leade the research. *3
【Yuki】I'll do my best.

You have ten years' experience in your filed. [意見･認識]
Is that correct? [それでいい？]
(あなたは専門の分野で10年の経験がありますね。それで合っていますか？)
・まずは自分がどんな意見・認識をもっているのか相手に情報を与える。
・そして「それでいい？」と尋ねる。この流れを大切に。

Am I on the right track? [それでいい？]
・「私が今までに集めた情報をお見せしましょう」。
・「私は正しい道筋の上にいますか？」。
・track は train track線路のイメージ。電車は決まった道しか走らない。「正しい・しっかりした決まった道筋、私はその上にいるんでしょうか？」＝「これで合ってますか」

Are we on the same page? [それでいい？]
・「私たちが取らなくてはいけないと思うアプローチです」。
・Are we on the same page? は同じ意見を持っている･同じ認識である、ということを述べる非常に使い勝手のいいフレーズ。なぜ同じページにいることが同じ意見をもつことになったかというと、It's like we're looking at the same book, and I'm asking if you're reading the same page. I wanna confirm that we're looking at the same information. (同じ本を見ていて、同じページを読んでるか尋ねる。同じ情報を見ているか確認したい。)

・「火星の気象パターンの調査の新しいメンバーを迎えます」
・こうした語順が完全に日本語と逆の文は中々日本人にとって作るのが難しい。
英語は必ず説明が後ろ。大切なことは前。説明は後ろであとでいくらでも足せばいい、というのが英語の考え方。
